Fall 2014: September 11, 2014 & September 12, 2014, 11:00AM – 1:00PM
Please note that Orientation dates and times are subject to change at the discretion of the administration. Orientation is mandatory. It is the responsibility of the student to check the website regularly for updates.
At Orientation, the following areas of work will be covered to prepare you for your first acting class:
1. RELAXATION WORK: Lecture/Demonstration. Students will be taken through the process step by step, with the teacher explaining how relaxation exercises are to be done and why they are important.
2. SENSORY WORK: A short description and explanation of the sensory exercises, with a brief demonstration of how the exercises are to be worked on at home. The student will be instructed to prepare the first exercise for his/her first acting class.
3. SCENE WORK: Students will be given the Simple Scene List and will be guided to start looking for scenes they would like to work on for class.
All incoming students must sign up for one orientation class by calling the Registrar’s Office at (212) 533-5500.
Intensive Program students must call the Front Desk of the Institute to make a registration appointment, as their curriculum has already been set.
